The calculator behind Plan4Profit.

The BSR Hourly Rate Calculator has been refined over more than three decades. It started as a pen-and-paper course run by Dulux Australia in 1991, led by Andrew Geddes and industry consultant Jim Shephard. Over the years it evolved into one of the most practical financial tools available to Australian collision repairers.

The original Plan for Profit course — run by Dulux Australia, led by Andrew Geddes and Jim Shephard. Every calculation done manually with pen, paper, and a basic calculator.
Mid 1990s
Converted to Excel — the paper system moved into a spreadsheet, making it faster and reusable year to year.
1998
Separate panel and paint rates — developed distinct calculations for panel and paint to better reflect the true cost of each trade area.
2009
Achieved rates added — the calculator now compares actual workshop performance against targets, making it a live management tool.
2024
Plan4Profit goes online — launched as a live online workshop, making the training accessible to repairers across Australia and beyond without leaving their business.

Yes. The BSR Hourly Rate Calculator is guided and fully online. All paid attendees receive access to the calculator as part of their booking.
Many repairers asked for an online option for three reasons: time (getting out of the business for a full day is difficult), privacy (some workshops prefer their financial information isn't seen by others), and accessibility (online removes the need to travel). The online format delivers the same outcomes with less disruption to your business.
The classroom and in-person version may return in the future. For now, the online format is our primary delivery method and delivers the same practical outcomes.
